Amazon offers Game Downloads
February 6th 2009 18:10
Amazon.com, the gargantuan online retailer, has announced a new department: Game Downloads for PC.
Makes sense, since they sell everything else. It's a similar system to those already in use by many online downloads retailers. You can have a free trial, and then pay to use the game forever. As a matter of fact, most of the games are the same ones available on other sites, at roughly the same price.
Hopefully after the roll-out Amazon will continue to expand this department to be really competitive, like publishing some original content games, or tempting the buyer with lower prices or package deals.
As a matter of fact, there is a current promotion, with free downloads available for Build-a-Lot, Jewel Quest II, and the Scruffs.
Yay, new games!
