New Reviews Coming Up

December 12th 2006 10:40
Hello fellow readers, from now on every two weeks I'm going to do up a post to give a rough Idea of what I'm going to be doing on giventogaming over the 14 days. I'm going to have several new reviews for some new PC games, new Xbox 360 games as well as reviews of some independent games competing for the Independent Games Festival 2007 prizes (www.igf.com).

That's right I'm going to focus over the coming months of reviewing the best and the worst of the independent gaming world. From what I've tested theres some real gems as well as some complete utter pieces of shite, so it should be interesting.

Some of the upcoming PC and Xbox 360 games to be reviewed coming up are:

Battle for Middle-Earth 2: Rise of the Witch King
Perfect Dark Zero (PC)
Rainbow Six Vegas (X360)
Call of Duty 3 (X360)
My Gears of War Experiences
Battlefield 2142 check up after several patches (will I still be pissed at EA?)
Hopefully a Supreme Commander Beta checkup (fingers crossed)

and whatever else I feel like playing.

Stay Tuned, Battle for Middle-Earth 2: Rise of the Witch King review to come Wednesday.

Away for a week

November 6th 2006 12:35
Hey there orble readers, due to my extremely busy schedule as of late with exams and all I might not be able to post as often as I would like. This is just to let you all know that giventogaming.com is *not* dead and that I shall be posting a complete report of my closed Beta Test of the simply jaw dropping Supreme Commander very, very soon.

Console Wars

November 1st 2006 06:03
Apparently due to blue-laser diode production being behind schedule the Australiasian and European releases have been pushed into the distant future. March 2007. Hopefully if Mad Max style gangs haven't taken over the streets by then we can finally get a taste of what the Americans and Japanese will be getting for Christmas.

Console soap drama's!...Ahhh I'm so witty

Dungeons, Dragons and Module Toolsets?

October 31st 2006 02:33
The original Neverwinter Nights (NWN) released in 2002 was one of the best games released that year and was without a doubt the best role playing game (RPG) of the year. According to the developer Bioware’s official site for Neverwinter Nights the game won around 86 awards from all over the world from; ‘Best Roleplaying Game of 2002’ by PC Gamer; to ‘Best Roleplaying Game E3 2000, 2001 and 2002’ by E3 Games Critic Award. Much of its popularity, unlike its other Dungeon and Dragons predecessors such as Baldurs Gate and Planescape Torment, was due to its highly accessible and addictive modding component (Though don’t call them mods, call them ‘modules’ the community gets pretty anal about that).

The NWN 2 'Electron' Toolset
The number of modules created by gamers around the world numbers into the hundreds (if not thousands), with several of the most popular ones being sold by Bioware themselves online. The fact that the toolset, the program used to create these modules, was so easy to use complemented it considerably. The sequel, NWN 2 to be released in Australia on the 9th of November 2006 is also going to be using (basically) the same style of program. With some added bonuses of course
